1987 VAN cranks, turns over, starts and dies.
Hey TVT, I hope this isn:t a redundant post since I have browsed through everything
from fuel pump to circuit relays and around to fusable links.
*NOTE* I installed a new starter, distributor cap & rotor, spark plugs and wires one
month before this happened
A few weeks back my 1987 Toyota Van , SPACE BUNNY, stalled out about
3 miles from my home.
After a tow home and some tinkering/researching on TVT, I went ahead and dropped
the tank for a fuel pump change as well as three specified relays suggested in a
thread I can't seem to find now (one cylindrical behind steering column, one
cylindrical behind radio and one square behind radio/glove compartment.).
I also installed a Fuel Filter which I had from another Toyota as the initial filter was
passing less flow as the replacement.
(Potentially, I installed the hoses backwards as I now have zero fuel entering the filter?)
Also, since Ive owned and run Space Bunny (20K miles), I have never heard the fuel
pump kick on. Still don't after replacement.
I appreciate your time and guidance.
Thanks, Byron

Re: 1987 VAN cranks, turns over, starts and dies.
okay, new discovery as of now.
battery is reading 11.75ish V and drops to 10V with turn of key....
but, occasionally starts in-between lond rested attempts of starting.
Battery needs attention nonetheless it appears.
