Cold idle issue

Hi everyone,

I just recently fixed a starter issue with my van after getting the transmission rebuilt.

Now the van starts fine but on cold starts, but it idles at 700 RPM.
This is strange since when I was starting it last week with the starter issue, it was actually idling at the correct 1200 RPM cold; it would just take a long time to crank over due to the bad starter.
It did end up rumbling and stalling when it came back down from the 1200 RPM though after it started warming up but i figured I haven't actually started the van in 6 months some bad fuel in the lines may have attributed to the stalling.

Does this sound like a fuel issue?

Any suggestions on what it might be?

I tried to PM you but your box was full.

I have manual trans. So yours and my situation is completely different. I don't have a torque converter. I know nothing about the auto trans. My van runs fine.. I never found the cause of differing idle speeds. When its warmed up it runs consistently at what i set it. I tried replacing the MAF and ECU (used not new) but it did not go away. I'm not really worried about it because it drives like it should.

Anyway, I actually have a manual. Not sure why you thought I had an auto but does yours idle at 700 when cold also? The part that threw me off was that it was idling at 1200 cold on sunday so this threw me off.

I read rebuild and assumed it was an auto.

mine idles a few hundred rpm higher when hot than cold. I dont know why.
Maybe a bad Temp sensor?

I tested the resistance on the aux air valve and got a reading of 43.5 ohms when cold.

Would this mean that the valve is closed all the time even when cold. Bad valve?

That thing is a bit of work to replace so want to know for sure before I pull the manifold to do this.
