97 Brake LSPB valve and spring shaft
Checking rear brake pads and lubing the frozen slider pins on my 97 and noticed there is no LSPB valve and spring shaft or corresponding brake lines in front of the left rear tire. I know this system was present on my old 95sc and 96. Wonder why they discontinued this system for the last year of USA production?

Does it have ABS? If so, there's no need for a brake portioning valve.

yes, it has ABS, don't think that matters though, as my 95sc had ABS and it had the LSPB and spring shaft. Maybe they just cut it for cost savings on the 97s as it wasn't really needed

Re: 97 Brake LSPB valve and spring shaft
With ABS the brake portioning valve is not needed. Its function is to put more or less braking power to the rear to prevent lockup of the rear wheels.
ABS will not let any wheel lock, so it replaces (and works better than) the valve.

Makes sense. Maybe the alltracs with ABS didn't have or need it, while the 2wd with ABS had it like my 95 2wd with ABS

Re: 97 Brake LSPB valve and spring shaft
Mine has ABS and it does have the LSPB
The parts catalog shows it was removed from August 96 (1997 MY) production though, which seams to indicate Toyota added EBD into its ABS system for 97 onwards
