    Transfer case chain?

My manual transmission is out of the van and cracked open at the shop. Gears and synchros are good, just needs new bearings. One of the bearings is really bad - I felt it. Crrrrrunchy.

He'd like to put a chain in the transfer case if we can find one - showed me that it's kinda loose. Anyone know if this is available, and where it might be available?

    Re: Transfer case chain?

The transmission shop sourced a new chain for the transfer case and it'll be in Monday for the rebuild. I'll find out where they obtained the bearing kit and other parts in case anyone is in need of that stuff. Although any transmission shop ought to be able to source it - apparently most parts are still available. But mine doesn't need any gears or synchros, so I'm not sure about those.

I dropped by the shop this afternoon with a rear main I had so they could put that in while the trans is out. And I saw the gearbox open and laying out there on the bench.... Wow. That's one job I'm happy to pay someone to do. Wish I had snapped a photo for you all.

I think I'll name my van "Lazarus."

Between the guy I bought it from and what I put into it recently, everything but the engine internals has got to be new or rebuilt by now.
