Ignition... completely lost
a couple of days ago, I was driving along and suddenly there was no throttle response... but only for a second or two, all the lights, accessories, everything else was fine. then the power came back and she was running as good as normal... a few hours later, I'm idling scrolling through my phone after work. same thing, but the engine came back before the rpms dropped to zero. Then after a show later that night, i gave a friend a ride home and same thing but it never came back. I popped the clutch going down a high grade hill and nothing. got it towed home and peeled away the 'hood' and today I did the following (required a tune up anyways) after looking through this super resourceful website as I have to make repairs in the past. (thank you to all who contribute.)
Replaced
- spark plugs
- plug wires
- Ignition coil (you can get these from toyota forklift dealerships still as they still have 4y's)
cleaned and inspected
- TB
- TPS
- ignitor (no bubbling or burning in the epoxy or corrosion on solders)
- Air Flow Gate Sensor
- air box
- vacuum lines
- all fusible links behind ps reservoir
- all fuses
the only improvement I have gotten since yesterday is now I have fuel where I didn't yesterday (tested the pump yesterday with the tester and it was good but not delivering when key turned to start.)
this all happened after a car wash.
all accessories still work. all functions still work but no spark.
any help is much appreciate.
thanks,
Leon,
