front end damage / snapped tie rod

1 week after having my front end totally redone, someone sideswiped & hit my parked van. It appears that the driver side tie rod has snapped. I'm not sure if its the inner or outter tie rod. But what else should I be looking at if the tire took a blow strong enough to snap the tie rod?

Unfortunately, my insurance isn't going to cover the damage & the driver didn't stop so... I'm trying to decide if my van is just a parts van at this point.

I would just look everything over for bends in the front end. You were just down there rebuilding it so if anything is wonky it should be easy to spot. You could always try to toss another tie rod on it and see if it aligns at a shop.
