Instrument Panel Light and Automatic Shifter indicator light not working
Hello All,
i'm hoping to get some help. My instrument panel lights and my automatic shifter indicator lights stopped working all of the sudden. I checked the fuses and I had a blown 15 amp fuse. I replaced it but still have not lights. Is there a relay I need to replace?
Not sure if this is related, but my Headlight Relay gets pretty hot to the touch if I'm driving around with my lights on. Any ideas?
Thanks, Tom

Have you checked the bulbs? It sounds like there is something blowing fuses & possibly bulbs?
Re: Instrument Panel Light and Automatic Shifter indicator light not working
Relays have coils and coils get hot (hot relays are normal). Check the new fuse to make sure it didn't blow too. If it did, then it sounds like a short somewhere in your dash light circuit. Problems like this can be tough to chase down. One trick that works good is to bridge the fuse spot with a 1A or more load (light bulbs work) & a piezo buzzer. While the bulb is lit and the piezo buzzer is sounding, start wiggling wires in the suspected trouble spots. When the light starts flashing and the buzzer stops you've found the spot that needs attention. Good luck. Tim

Thanks for all the advice and quick responses! I pulled a couple relays cleaned the contacts and put them back in. That did the trick and I now have instrument panel lights!!
Love the idea of the bell and light!
