Hello folks, have read a ton of your great wisdom and finally signed up to ask for some help for a perplexing issue!

I never had this problem because with gas prices so high, I never fill my tank all the way up but the other day I wasn't paying attention and filled the tank till the gas nozzle kicked off.

Now the van won't hardly start at all and when it does, its stumbling and stalls out off idle till it reaches normal operating temperature. Then it runs perfectly normal.

100% certain the starting issue is lack of fuel.

Any ideas on what filling the tank did and what is stopping it from starting when cold?

Also one other data point; whenever I opened the gas cap, a whoosh of pressure/fumes used to always escape... now when I open it, nothing; completely silent.

Thanks in advance for any insights you may offer.

hmm.. I'm not an expert on this, but the first thing i would do is grab a manual and find a diagram of the fuel system in your van. I know there is a cold start injector located on the intake manifold that helps with, you guessed it, cold starts. im sure if you do some digging on this site you can find more info on that. Also, testing fuel pressure could help root out a problem. low fuel pressure means a bad fuel pump and high pressure means a bad pressure regulator.

There is also a fuel vapor system that is part of the tank, if anything is messed up with that (could be related to the lack of whooshing at the gas cap) then that might cause some fueling problems too.
