Toyota Repair Manual for 1988 LE

Hi all,

I have decided I need to have a OEM Repair manual for my my 1988 LE 4x4 5 spd. I have been doing some research on which manual corresponds with my model. My VIN starts with JT3YR36. Looking at a few manuals online, they cover specific models designated by series. For instance I was looking at Pub No. RM079U the OEM Manual for 1988 vans, but it says the applicable Models are YR 22, 23, 29, 31, 32 series.

Is the model series of my van YR 36, given that the VIN is JT3YR36? If so does someone know which Pub No. would correspond with this model. Not all the manuals online show the preface page listing the models series, so it would be super helpful to have the Pub. No. as this is printed on the front of the manual.

I don't think the VIN has anything to do with the series. My 87' 4WD 5 spd is also "JT3YR36..." but as I understand it, it's a 31 series (specifically, YR31LG-MQEA).

Plug your VIN in at https://partsouq.com/ and you'll get the corresponding options. Click in the (i) button to see the specifics for each model (paying attention to trim, transmission and destination, i.e. US, Canada, etc if more appear).

The model/chassis number is on a tag under a little carpet flap in front of the passenger seat.

I have 2 mint condition 88 fsm ... last one I got for 40 a ollars on ebay!! There's a guy in Georgia had a couple.
If you can't find one PM me..
I Paid 150 4 years ago but was in great shape... misplaced and stumbled across one for 40. And found mine next day lol
