Hi everybody,

I am French and I am looking for the technical repair manual for a Toyota Model F 2Y engine 1.8L 1984.
I have an ignition problem with new ignition coil, new spark plug, cleaned carburettor : there is almost no spark. I don't understand.

Maybe somebody could help me about this problem ?

Thank you very much.

there is a manual floating around the site, you may have to wait till the link to the google drive resurfaces. then you can download and save.

I no longer have the link. :wave1:

Sorry, i have no specific experience with this engine, but in general, if there is a spark, but not a good one, you already checked the most logical items. I would also check the ground cables, to the coil, and the one from the engine to the frame.
Also, new parts don’t necessary mean good parts. You should clean the old plugs and try those too. I wasted way too much time to troubleshoot exactly this issue on a honda. It only ran properly with NGK plugs, not with my fancy bosch ones. I never realized that the troubles started after I replaced the plugs and cables as routine maintenance…

Thank you, it's interesting.
A mechanic also told me that it could come from the Hall effect sensor in the ignition system. It's strange.
I don't have the technical diagrams to verify the location of this sensor in the Toyota Model F 2Y 1.8L - 1984.
I don't know if this part is present in the van.
