Hi,
I need some help with fuses.
I got a 1988 Toyota van and it seems that fuses were slaughtered in an horrible manner...
Fuses bos is not original if I compare to this one :

Does anyone can help me to figure out which is what, eventullay how to fix the mess and where are the fuse for "fuel injection" ?

Since the picture I've replaced the fuse with new ones, but I've used the official Toyota diagram for 1986. Is it ok ?
My car start well, no problem, but as soon as I accelerate it "cough" and slow down until stalling... But I can start it again fine right after it stall. Just acceleration make problem, so I guess fuel fuse to start, before going down to injector.
Regards :)

Klent - You will need to find an 88/89 manual.
Engine management systems changed for 88MY, I dont know what else, but I would want the correct manual, before trying to solve issues.
I do not envy your position, that looks like a holy hell of a mess.

Hi Burntboot,
I've searched a lot but I could but did not find one. I'm limited due to geography, I can't receive paper printed book.
"I would want the correct manual, before trying to solve issues." Yes, you're right for that, I was a little hurry, but I got fuse broken and no lights, no washer, I thought that replace them would be a good idea. And... it wasn't...
I know that put a lower capacity fuse is not good, and perhaps that is what cause trouble.. But what about a higher one ? What would be the consequences to put a 20A instead of a 10A ?
Because in this case, I replace all by higher ones...
I want to point that cables are not original ones and they look like the ones that you find in a house, they are big section, so the protection of the fuse is not big deal for them. However, maybe it will harm the electrical device at the end in case of too much power passing through.
Sorry, for my approximative grammar, as you see, it is not my native language.

Putting a higher rated fuse than what is called for is not a good idea.
The fuse is there to protect the circuit in the event something goes wrong, bigger fuses tend to cause fires.
Over here, house wire is solid core, not stranded wire.
Solid core doesn't like vibrations of any kind and will fatigue and crack in short order.
If thats whats in there, it needs to come out.
Do you know what country your van was originally built for?
Different countries get different configurations, so I am not sure that a "North American market" manual would solve your problems

Well, it is solid core and they are all over the place...
According to papers (but... well..) it was for USA, then imported in Vietnam around 1990-92.
I got a 1986 user manual, that is fine for basic stuff (lights and washer maintenance) and I got a 87 repair manual (kind of two books with exploded engine, the professionnal stuff), but is cover wiring as a professionnal, with elecric diagram and no nice drawing with which an amateur like me could understand something.
Is there a way to find out what is the use of a fuse ?
Like using a electric meter with one wire on the fuse and the other on the electric motot of the washer and if it bip it mean I find the fuse for washer ?
It'll be painful, but it is either "a 88 manual", "this solution" or "bring it to a garage" where they will probably fix it but by doing the exact same thing with cutting wires if they don't know what it is for, aluminium paper as conductor and weird wiring...

If you can narrow down exactly what you need I can try to take some pics of my manual but you have to understand the electrical section is comprised of double sided, 3ft long fold-outs.
They do not photo well and you would have to tape them together after printing, in order to make any sense of them.
You really should try to source a manual.
" factoryrepairmanuals.com " have a listing for both the dedicated electrical guide and the full Repair manual, and both can be had for $150 US + shipping.
I would strongly suggest collecting them, as they will pay for themselves in short order.
For what its worth, I paid nearly double that price over 10 yrs ago and have never regretted the decision.
Some of the best money I ever spent.

I digged a little and it appear that the fuse panel is the original one, but broken, so they fix it on the side and plug a dozen wire to replace the broken part.
I got an electrival diagram of 87, I see how it is (3ft long..) but I can not make any sense out of it. It look like chinese for me.
But if you can send me pics, I'll print it and bring it to the garage, I hope they can read it.
I've checked " factoryrepairmanuals.com ", thank you for the advice. It is out of stock, so I put it in favorite and I'll go back later to check.
However I've downloaded a repair manual 19888 toyota van from here : https://automanuals4u.com/product/1988-toyota-van-service-and-repair-manual/
Seems legit and ok, I just watch it quickly yesterday, many drawings, so it is good for me I guess.

Reading electrical diagrams is an art, or at least an acquired taste.
Reading the 5 or 6 pages prior to the diagrams does help, as it will teach you how to identify what your looking at
As I don't want to overload the server, what specific circuits are you chasing?
Does the PDF manual contain the diagrams you need?

"an acquired taste" :LOL2:
Well, giving the state of my electric board, I would say all the pages. But maybe the 2 pages of EFI would be the best for starting.
I got this, does it look like yours ?

I've reduced the weight of the picture, so zooming might be difficult.

The layout is the same, I didn't bother trying to zoom anything as the label states "87MY"

Ok, I'll try to find a 88 diagram
Thanks for your help and advices
