I was looking at a remanufactured brake master cylinder for an 87 from Autozone (in the store) and noticed that the lower section of the piston part that connects to the booster seems like it was grinded off.
For those that have replaced a master cylinder, have you noticed this and is it normal? Would it affect function? Here's what it looks like online on their site: https://www.autozone.com/brakes-and-traction-control/master-cylinder-brake-system/remanufactured-master-cylinder-brake-system-m52244/482570_0_0

I haven't held a van master in some time, but I wouldn't worry about what your seeing there.

That is only the casting you are looking at.
The piston is the green thing behind the black circlip.
That portion of the housing merely locates the master into the booster.
There is no "sealing" that occurs in that area

Thanks for the feedback. I just posted some pics of my existing master on a new thread https://www.toyotavantech.com/forum/showthread.php?7803-LED-Dash-and-Brake-Master-cylinder-change-or-not as I went in and swapped out the dash green bulbs with LEDs.

For the master, ok- I was perusing other auto parts sites and photos and theirs seemed completely round.
