Driver side door open red marker not illuminating

Friends- I noticed that my driver door, when open, does not illuminate the dashboard door "open" light and the red illuminated courtesy light on the door itself does not either. However, the "door" dome does​ come on. I pressed and toggled the pin switch at the door jamb and that doesn't seem to do anything.
Would anyone have any troubleshooting thoughts?

When you open the door look below the upper door hinge between the door and the body and theres a cluster of wires that may have become frayed from the door opening and closing??

Interestingly, I found that the light works.. when other doors are open. The wires around the door hinges look ok, no tears. There must be something wrong with it elsewhere.
