Hey TVT!
I've been having intermittent starting issues, presumably from heat soak, but I'm convinced there is another factor at play here. I've had the van for 2 years now, and the intermittent starting has only gotten worse. This morning I checked for stored codes and got code 12, presumably stored after a click-no-start yesterday. I cleared the codes and and the code 12 was gone, but I'll check again after my next-no start. The van always starts after I let the engine compartment air out for a little bit, or ground the CTS, but I never had to do this until this summer. I have noticed that when it does start, sometimes the RPMs kick up to 1000 then drop down to 750, but more often than not they shoot to 750 and stay there. They'll sit at 1000 with the CTS grounded, but they never come down, which is why I haven't permanently grounded it. Could this be a symptom of my problem? Could resistance introduced by heat in the engine compartment exasperate a failing distributor or ignitor?
Thanks in advance!
Nick
