View Full Version : Interior door panel plastic clips:

So I need ALL the plastic clips for the rear inside door panel to re-install it, and a few here and there for loose panels:

Clips are readily available, and cheap, BUT its hard to get someone to actually say if a particular clip fits...

A key question is are the interior panel clips all the same? Anyone have a handy P/N or source?

I THINK this is the right clip: (I've yet to hold one in my hand...)

Seems to be a 2 piece part? One for the metal door, the other into the panel and then plug in.

edit: ps: my Van is an 87 4WD...

Bump:

40 looks and no responses? Does no one know which clips are used?

Please be patient, sometimes not everyone has the answer your looking for... ya know.

Have a look these match the ones you have in your photo for the door panels-

I suggest removing your panel to determine the proper clips for your application.

My van has a completely different style clip...it is metal wire bent into the shape of a clip with an offset tab that slides directly onto the masonite of the door panel thru a narrow . (my van is a 1987 DX 2wd). These are prone to breaking the masonite on the door panel if you do not use a proper panel-removing tool.

Another common clip I have come across...made of flat metal that is bent into a similar shape as the bent-wire clip and mounts directly on the masonite also, but goes into a soft plastic/rubbery sleeve placed in the holes on the van body.

I have not seen many plastic clips like JDM VANMAN has pictured...perhaps those are exclusive to the LE panels. Most of the panels that I have removed are on Cargo and DX models.

Cali Cruiser,

excellent suggestion to remove and check the panels, I didn’t even consider that the panel could possibly be different based on trim levels. Now come to think of it the DX panels didn’t have the integrated arm rest or power switch controls in the door cards so maybe that’s why?

Who knows until the panel is removed. Thank you for replying and point out the differences:thmbup:

OK digging into this deeper, it's not a simple answer. On my 87 LS 4WD::

The rear door inside panel used the FLAT metal spring clips Cruiser mentioned. (I found one still stuck ion the plastic insert in the door hole)

The drivers door corner uses a ONE PIECE plastic insert. (Not sure if this Is a special for that spot have not removed the panel completely as yet)

Also not sure about the rest of the panels. I'm left wondering WHY Toyota would mix and match clips; why not standardize? From a cost perspective it makes no sense whatsoever.

Now I need to find a bunch of the metal clips for the back panel, and I want a few of the others as I'm certain some will break as I get deeper into this thing...

Found the one piece clips on Amazon: Amazon clips Replacement for the Part# 90467-10188 (https://www.amazon.com/Interior-Retainers-Corolla-Replacement-90467-10188/dp/B06Y66SXHT/ref=asc_df_B06Y66SXHT/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=312634019511&hvpos=1o2&hvnetw=g&hvrand=14525204287369937941&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9032024&hvtargid=pla-569135218499&psc=1)

This fits MY 87 LE 4WD - YMMV...

Spring clip seems to be more difficult...

To shed some light, my 1988 LE also has plastic clips on the driver side door. They're also pretty destroyed. Any reason one couldn't just double sided tape the panel?

You might. But if the Masonite is in decent shape, or can he repaired if there are weak spots at the holes, For <48 for ten of them I'd get new clips from amazon.

I spent 3 seconds looking up a better price for you on those plastic panel clips...just a basic search for the product number on your Amazon listing.

There might be even cheaper ones out there, but here you go:

on Amazon...25 of them for $4.83

on Ebay...25 of them for $1.83 or best offer (shipped from China)
