Hello,

I have a Toyota Van Le 1986 wich was orginally delivered in California.
The Toyota Van LE is very rare in Holland/Europe.
A US soldier brought it with him when he came to Europe to serve here.
Because it is so very rare a bought a Model-F (european version of the US Van) for parts.

This Model-F came originally with headlamp cleaners, the blockheating ( I think) was added later.

My questions to you all:
Does anybody have an electric diagrame/flowchart , of the originally factory fitted, headlamp cleaners.
Is there an electric diagram/flowchart of the block heater or how i can connect it to the Original wire harnes?

Greetings JP

I could be wrong, happens more as I get older. I don’t think the US vans came w/headlight washers.

the block heaters are usually stand alone units. you plug them in over night and simply unplug in the morning and off you go. so there won't be any need to touch the factory loom!

thats crazy I'm in Sweden too! I think I must have the only townace here though! I think both the accessories you have are aftermarket. any of the cars here have those fitted to deal with the salty roads. I've never seen anything like that fitted from the factory on a townace anywhere in the world. do you know any other vans in Europe??

Hey Oli,

I live in Holland.
My parts car is a Toyota Model-F, same as the US Toyota Van. But the european Model-f van had other bumpers headlights and so on and were not as luxurious as the US Vans.
The blockheater is aftermarket but headlamp cleaner is Original.

Hey Oli,

This the model-F I bought for parts in my garage.
On the bumper you can see one nozzle, the other nozzle was already gone.
The socket fot the block Heather was attached on the bumper too.
This car has a manual transmission.
I read that i can attach the manaul gearbof on my 4y engine.
greetings JP

I wish I could find after-market side mirrors like that!

The mirrors on the van are Original mirrors used on all european vans (Model-F)

Not to go off topic, I have a set of SpaceCruiser folding mirrors, unfortunately the both cracked in shipping due to poor packaging. I intended on swapping them out on my 4WD van but what a disappointment. They wrapped it with a bunch of bubble wrap but faced the mirrors towards each other and then wrapped it in a black bag, not even in a box?? So when it was dropped multiple times in transit the shock cracked both mirrors, it looked like garbage so it was treated like garbage.

hekkie,

would you happen to know if there’s an aftermarket mirror replacement for the them? Complete mirror only or stick on replacement, I’ve searched but haven’t come with anything.

Thank you:thmbup:

Are these aspherical mirrors? That would be tough to find in the states!

No Sir,

These are the regular convex type mirrors, the line you see in the photo is the crack in the O/S mirror which makes it look like it’s aspherical and the N/S mirror is actually spider web cracked which is hard to see in this photo.

I’ll make a new thread with “Mirror Comparison” —— SpaceCruiser, TownAce/MasterAce, and VanWagon so this thread doesn’t go too far off topic.

Sorry hekkie I asked because the it came up and we’re not trying to hijack the thread:thmbup:

JDM - you should be able to replace just the glass.

Its been many years but, make a pattern off the old one with stiff paper, carefully disassemble the housing and extract the mirror pad.
Sometimes you will have to clean the glass off the mounting pad and reuse, depending on the mounting style.
Its a Royal Pain but probably easier than finding something off the shelf.

BB,

Thank you it’s just a matter of finding the replacement glass that fits or someone’s local that can make it.

hekkie,

this is the only thing I was able locate to confirm your inquiry of the headlamp cleaner, it’s a old leaflet with a photo of the headlamp cleaners!!
