View Full Version : VSV Missing Cap 89570-28060
I recently completed a bunch of work on my 85 van (3 yec). I labelled all of my connections before removing the intake and was very careful. Apparently not careful enough, because I have a missing connection to the VSV with part #89570-28060. I'm missing the cap (I don't think a hose goes there) to the back side of the VSV. See image below. Will someone confirm that there is no hose connection here and if it is a cap, it is necessary to have this cap on the nipple?:cnfsd:

Too answer my own post:
This VSV on the passenger side is for the AC system. It allows more air to enter the system, which causes the idle to raise when the AC kicks on.
The part i'm missing is just a cap and it allows air in, but keeps critters and dust out of the vacuum system. I guess I will go without a cap and hope nothing gets in there.

You could probably make a filter.
But I think you can still buy that piece if you want. This thread is pretty thorough but the part you want is talked about on the second to last comment of this page:

So I was working on my van, changing fuel filter and fixing some other things. While I was in there, I noticed the wires running into the weatherproof connector on the AC Idle-Up VSV had broken. I also noted that one of the vacuum nozzles had a hose with a bolt stuffed in it (removed in the photo). I was curious what it may have gone to, looked through the threads and found diagrams for everything. And this thread about the missing filter. It looks like someone put the VSV in backwards and got the hoses wrong on my van at some point. And they have a hose where the filter should be, I think. Is this filter still available? I checked rockauto.com and couldn't find it. Anyone got a recommendation on what to do there? Also curious if anyone knows the availability/part number for a new connector? Looks like the plug on the lower VSV in the pic is about to go too -- hanging on by a few copper strands.

Well, I believe I've found the VSV part, and the filter is included. Thinking I'm probably out of luck on the connectors/wires unless I find them at a salvage. Or I just wire direct to the posts. If anyone has spare connectors or a line on where to buy replacements, would appreciate it.
