My van is super close to being back on the road. It's got a new injector pump gear and timing belt. However the issue now is the engine is slowing down way too slowly after giving it gas. My mechanic is still working on it, but I was hoping to find a common answer to this. Googling it seems to point at dirty injectors, but I really don't want to keep going in circles so I'm hoping someone else has had experience with this. It's really difficult to search AceAnswers for this, I did my best.

So after over 4 months with the same mechanic we've decided give up on solving the rev hang. Pickup up the van this weekend. It is running, but how well I'm not sure yet. I'll find out on Saturday.

I'm going to be on the hunt for a Toyota diesel specialist. I'm very close to resolving this problem. Solved or not I'll very likely be selling this rig. I've got a 2 year old son and a daughter on the way, I simply don't have the time this van deserves.

The good news for the next owner is this:
1. Registered and titled in California. That was the hardest part.
2. Smog exempt forever.
3. New turbo
4. New timing belt
5. New brakes
6. Rebuilt injector pump
7. New exhaust
8. New tires
9. Ridiculously clean, fully functional interior
10. Cold AC. Front and rear.
11. Remote central locking and alarm
12. Power windows
13. All new top end seals. No leaks
14. Double DIN bluetooth stereo
15. 5-speed manual trans
16. Auto-locking front hubs

I'd probably take $10k for the van as-is right now. With my idle issue resolved I know I could sell it for $12k+ on eBay. I paid $12k for the van myself and put another $3k into it since possession, plus got it registered in the most PITA state. If nobody is interested at $10k then I'll just keep it stored at home until I find the time to resolve this issue.

I'm also considering an engine swap. Possibly to a gas 2.7 Toyota engine.

If I do that I'll let you diesel guys know when my 2-CT is available. It's a good engine, just has a finicky pump.

Man that blows you can't seem to resolve that issue, have you considered calling a shop in Vancouver BC and trying to get a over the phone possible diagnostic or idea. There's a lot of shops that deal with JDM vehicles over there that service Delicas and Hiaces so that might be an option.

Congrats on the new baby on the way:thmbup: I have 6 of my own and I know the excitement, preparation (priorities) that are soon to come!!!
