Fuel pump question for 1986 TCV.

I have just recently replaced the fuel pump on my van.I am noticing that it is running constantly.Is this normal?I can actually hear the pump when the van is running.

I say yes as far as running all the time. Was it a Toyota pump or aftermarket?

Thanks for the response djshimon. It was an after market I picked up from Rock Auto,though they looked the same except for the screen sock. I'm not much of a mechanic but I do the work I feel I can. I have a good friend who is a mechanic that is willing to help me with everything on the van and he did tell me the same thing though he was surprised at how loud the pump actually is. You can hear that baby running even while driving.
Maybe a full tank of gas will quiet it down? I guess we'll see,thanks again! ;)
