Heater Valve - opened or closed?

Hi everyone, I've found an aftermarket replacement that may work for my van since the Toyota one is discontinued. I'll have to fabricate a way to mount it, but I was wondering if anyone knew if the heater valves for 85s are 'pull to open' or 'pull to close.' Any help would be appreciated.

pretty sure it's pull to close.
